COVID-19 cases in Khulna division reach 4,775

KHULNA,– With detection of 268 new more positive cases in last 24 hours till today’s noon, the total number of COVID-19 infected patients in the division reached 4,775, said a COVID-19 quarantine and isolation related daily report here today.

“We received 280 samples at Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMC) and other samples in Jashore and Kushtia laboratories in the last 24 hours till this noon and 268 of those were found COVID-19 positive,” Assistant Director (Health) of Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter told BSS this noon.

The health officials said the newly detected 268 COVID-19 patients include one in Bagerhat, seven in Chuadanga, 59 in Jashore, 27 in Jhenaidah, 113 in Khulna, 30 in Kustia, four each in Magura and Meherpur, and 23 in Narail districts in the division.

The official said the district-wise break-up of the COVID-19 patients now stands at 195 in Bagerhat, 229 in Chuadanga, 707 in Jashore, 236 in Jhenaidah, 2,123 in Khulna, 652 in Kustia, 148 in Magura, 80 in Meherpur, 221 in Narail and 184 in Satkhira districts.

Dr Ferdousi said the whereabouts of the persons, who came in contact with Covid-19 patients, were brought to notice and they were asked to remain in home isolation so that the virus cannot spread further.

She added that utmost emphasis has been given to bring all the suspected people under quarantine, isolation and testing as these are being adjudged as important means of containing the community transmission of the virus.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,391 have cured from coronavirus infections as 147 more people were discharged from the Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals after their recovery in all 10 districts of the division in the last 24 hours.

She said the average recovery rate of COVID-19 patients is 29.13 percent while fatality rate 1.71 percent in the division.

“Among the total 4,775 coronavirus infected persons, 528 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals as 1,391 have recovered and 82 died while the rest of the patients are remaining in isolation at their respective homes in the division”, she said.

With the five more death, the total number of fatalities reached 82 in the division including 27 in Khulna, four in Bagerhat, four in Satkhira, 12 in Jashore, six in Jhenaidah, three in Magura, seven in Narail, 11 in Kustia, three in Chuadanga and five in Meherpur districts.
