Over 7.33 cr people get relief assistance amid COVID-19 pandemic

DHAKA,  – The government has already provided relief to over 7,33,43,000 people under 1, 67,29,000 families across the country as humanitarian assistance aiming to mitigate people’s sufferings caused by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

“Around 7,33,43,000 individuals of more than 1.67 crore families have been benefited with the government relief assistance during this ongoing COVID-19 crisis”, said an official release here today.

The government so far has distributed 1.95 lakh tonnes out of 2,11,017 tonnes of rice among the people, according to the data provided by 64 district administrations till July 1.

The government has allocated nearly Taka 123 crore in cash for purchasing other goods including the baby food across the country.

Of the total allocation, Taka 95,83,72,264 in cash has been earmarked for purchasing relief materials …where nearly Taka 92.58 crore have been distributed among 4,38,23,000 individuals under more than 99 lakh families, it said.

The government has distributed baby food of Taka 26.25 crore among 17.34 lakh people under 8.40 lakh families against the total allocation of Taka 27.14 crore, the PID handout added.
