Facebook has contributed US$ 2.50 lakh to international NGO Save the Children to help flood affected children and their families in Bangladesh, reports BSS.

The donation will be used in providing emergency aid, food, water, and sanitation to the people affected by flood and storms, a Facebook press release said.

After heavy monsoon water spread across Bangladesh in mid-June, threatening hundreds of thousands of people, the community activated Safety Check and turned to Crisis Response to ask for and request help.

President and CEO of Save the Children Carolyn Miles said: “The monsoon season in Bangladesh is putting hundreds of thousands of people at risk and we must do everything we can to keep children protected and safe during this time. Save the Children is hugely grateful to Facebook for its commitment to help families after previous floods in Asia and again this year.”
