Covid-19 cases reach 1,503 in Khulna division

KHULNA, – The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases reached 1,503 in the division with 93 more new cases were reported after testing their samples at three COVID -19 laboratories here in the last 24 hours till noon today.

Health officials said the newly detected 93 COVID-19 patients include 37 in Khulna, 10 in Bagerhat, seven in Satkhira, 13 in Jashore, five in Jhenaidah, 17 in Kushtia and four in Narail districts in the division.

“The total number of COVID-19 patients now stands at 1,503 in all ten districts of Khulna division,” said Assistant Director (Health) of Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter.

“We received 285 samples at Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) and other samples in Jashore and Kushtia laboratories in the last 24 hours till this noon and 93 of those were found COVID-19 positive,” she added.

The district-wise breakups of the COVID-19 patients are 445 in Khulna, 87 in Bagerhat, 85 in Satkhira, 244 in Jashore, 104 in Jhenaidah, 55 in Magura, 65 in Narail, 241 in Kushtia, 144 in Chuadanga and 33 in Meherpur.

Meanwhile, the total number of recovered of COVID-19 patients rose to 446 with discharging of 27 more people after their recovery from the Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals in all ten districts of the division in last 24 hours.

“The percentage of recovery rate among all 1,503 coronavirus infected patients stands at 29.67 now in the division,” Dr. Ferdoushi said.

Besides, Khulna district adds four more fatalities in last 24 hour till today’s noon, raising the total reported deaths 20 in the division.

Among the 20, eight in Khulna, two in Bagerhat, two each in Magura, Narail and Meherpur, one each in Jashore, Kustia, Jhenidhah and Chuadanga districts.

“Among the total 1,503 coronavirus infected persons, 227 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals after the release of 446 recovered patients and 20 deaths has been reported while the rest of the patients are remaining in isolation at their respective homes in the division”, she said.
