COVID-19 positive cases reach 576 in Khulna division

KHULNA,– The entire number of the caseload for COVID-19 has surged to 576 in Khulna division with 18 more COVID-19 cases were detected after testing their samples at three COVID-19 laboratories in the division in last 24 hours till 12 noon today.

“We received 189 samples at Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) and other samples in Jashore and Kushtia laboratories in the last 24 hours and 18 of those were found COVID-19 positive,” said Assistant Director (Health) of Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akther.

Of the newly infected persons, 13 in Khulna, three in Bagerhat and one each in Satkhira and Kushtia districts.

The district-wise breakup of the COVID-19 patients stands at 97 are in Khulna, 33 in Bagerhat, 46 in Satkhira, 109 in Jashore, 53 in Jhenaidah, 26 in Magura, 26 in Narail, 65 in Kushtia, 96 in Chuadanga and 25 in Meherpur.

“Meanwhile, 262 coronavirus patients recovered so far out of total 576 infected persons with a recovery rate of 45.89 percent in Khulna division,” Dr. Ferdousi said.

The district-wise numbers of recovered patients stand at 23 in Khulna, seven in Bagerhat, one in Satkhira, 78 in Jashore, 30 in Jhenaidah, 18 in Magura, two in Narail, 28 in Kushtia, 70 in Chuadanga and five in Meherpur districts in the division.

Besides, a total of ten fatalities were reported so far with four in Khulna, two in Bagerhat, one each in Chuadanga and Narail and two in Meherpur districts.

Among the total 576 coronavirus infected persons, 113 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals after release of 262 recovered patients and 10 deaths while the rest of the patients are remaining in isolation at their respective homes in the division.

“Since the beginning from March 10 last, a total of 36,876 people were put in quarantine and of them, 30,844 released and 6,032 are currently remaining in home or institutional quarantine in Khulna division,” Dr. Ferdousi added.

During the last 24 hours, 176 people were put in quarantine at home or institutions and 227 others released in the division.

After getting a total of 1,10,801 pieces of personal protective equipment so far, we have already distributed 71,294 pieces of the same with a stock of 39,507 pieces in stock in the division, she added.
