BSU gave ultimatum to curb mosquito breeding at JU

Shahadat Sumon, JU Correspondent: Bangladesh Students Union (BSU) of Jahangirnagar University (JU) unit gave 10 days ultimatum demanding the effective control on mosquitoes and to improve the quality of medical aid at the campus.

They issued the ultimatum through a press release signed by its office secretary Ataul Haque Chowdhury on Wednesday.

The release said, “Last year the whole country along with JU has faced the dengue outbreak which dropped out many life including a first year student Wu Kheng NU. Effective initiatives should be taken early this year to curb mosquito-borne diseases by eliminating the breeding grounds of mosquito.”

They also urged to the authorities to improve the facilities in the university medical centre claiming that the authorities has no concern about the health care of the students even after several attempts.

Mikha Piregu, president of the JU branch Students Union said, “To prevent deadly Dengue fever the students should have the clear concept about the symptoms about it. The university concern should conduct awareness-based seminar on the campus and they should be informed of all the steps that should take in protecting themselves from the outbreak. But Alas, they have no such plan to confront the outbreak.”

“Again the students are facing various problems due to negligence of the authorities and suffering to the resident students, teachers, officials and employees are increasing day by day.” he added.
