Reunion of JU Zoology dept. held

Shahadat Sumon, JU correspondent: The first reunion of the Zoology department of Jahangirnagar University (JU) was held on the campus yesterday amid festivity.

Marking the program the students and teachers of the department brought out a colorful rally from the university`s Zahir Rayhan auditorium premises which ended at the teachers students centre, circling the whole campus.

JU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Farzana Islam inaugurated the function as the chief guest at about 11 am at the auditorium area.

Addressing the function, Prof Islam said, “Such events create mobility and vitality in the overall activities of the department. Particularly the department plays an important role in the field of education, research, open mindedness and democracy. The reunion ceremony reflected the combined thoughts and creates a wonderful opportunity to maintain inter-relationship among the senior junior of the department.”

“The junior students also had the opportunity to exchange ideas, develop relationships, leadership and human qualities through those program.” she added.

Later, formation of alumni association of the department, memorization of the former students and a cultural program was held at the university`s Selim Al Deen muktamanch area while more than two thousand of current and former students and their family took part on the reunion program.

Dean of the faculty of biological sciences and professor of the department Abdul Jabber Hawlader, convener of the reunion program Prof. Md. Mostafa Firoz among others present on the program.
