3-daylong book fair launched at JU

Shahadat Sumon, JU correspondent: A three-day ‘Falgun Book Fair-1426’ has been organized by Jahangirnagar University Earth Society (JUES) on the occasion of International Mother Language Day at the campus yesterday.

On Saturday (February 22), Professor Shafi Muhammad Tarek inaugurated the fair at the University`s Zahir Rayhan auditorium. The book fair will continue till February 24.

The president of the organization Anima Baroi said, JUES has taken various steps to protect and promote the environment as it aims to achieve a beautiful, green and pollution free Bangladesh. Books and nature exist in human relationships. People can develop their intellect and mind by purchasing books. So in addition to working with nature, we have organized this book fair on International Mother Language Day holding the slogan ‘Books and Nature are the utmost friends of people.’

“The fair can easily become the hub of booklovers who can come together and share their ideas”, she added.

Mashuhara Shammi, associate professor of environmental sciences department, was among others on the inauguration session. Later, a tree plantation program behind the university’s Zahir Rayhan auditorium held in memory of the Wakimon Tripura, a former member of the organization.
