Sheikh Jamal returns with winning streak in BPL

DHAKA, – Lieutenant Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club shrugged off their previous match defeat as they bounced back to register a 2-1 goal victory over Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) football match held today (Tuesday) at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj.

The first half saw both the team launch attacks and counter attack to take the lead. Omar however finally broke the deadlock scoring the first goal for
Sheikh Jamal, a deserving lead in the 44th minute.

But, the lead lasted for a few minutes as after the resumption foreign recruit Paul restored the parity for Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakara in the
47th minute of the match. Solomaon however sealed the victory for Jamal scoring the second goal in the 73rd minute of the match.

In the remaining proceeding, the freedom fighter tried hard to strike a fight back creating some scoring chances but all went in vain due to lack of
proper finishing.

Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club played good football although the proceeding and notched their deserving victory while the freedom fighters also had some real scoring chances but failed to convert those into a goal.

Muktijoddha and Sheikh Jamal will play their next match against Arambagh Krira Sangha on February 23 and March 2 respectively at Bangabandhu National Stadium.

Earlier, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club made a losing start in the league as they suffered a 2-0 goal defeat to Chattogram Abahani Limited in their league opening match.

Meanwhile, the BPL will return to city on Thursday (February 20) with Bangladesh Police Football Club taking on holders Bashundhara Kings at 3.30
pm while old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society play against Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra at 6.30 pm. Both the matches will be played at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
