JUTA election on Jan 27

Shahadat Sumon, JU correspondent: The election to the executive council of Jahangirnagar University Teachers Association (JUTA) will be held on January 27.

Holding the election VC backed teachers’ panel “Bangabondhu Shikkhak Parisad” and Awami League, BNP, left leaning anti VC teachers’ panel under the banner of “Sommilito Sikkhak Samaj” will contest the election to be held at the University`s teachers Club.

The final list of candidates has been announced and all preparations holding election has been completed, Professor Dr A K M Abul Kalam the election commissioner of JUTA confirmed it yesterday. A total of 30 candidates name have been finalized here as final list of the election.

Prof. A A Mamun of Physics department and Prof. Dr. Md. Alamgir Kabir of Statistics department will contest the poll as president and general secretary with VC backed panel ticket while Prof. Md. Sohel Rana of Pharmacy department and Prof. Md. Amzad Hossen of Economics department will contest the poll as president and general secretary with the anti VC tickets respectively.

Other candidates of “Bangabondhu Shikkhak Parisad” panel are Prof. Dr. Sayed Hafijur Rahman (vice-president), Prof. Dr. Md. Motahar Hossen (treasurer), Associate Prof. Dr. Risala Tasin Khan (joint secretary) and ten executive members include Professor Jugal Krishna Das, Sufi Mostafizur Rahman, Kaushik Saha, Ahmed Reza, Barta Chakraborty, Fakhrul Islam, Mahfuza Khatun, Ismat Ara, Bashir Ahmed and Hossain Mohammad Sayem.

Other candidates of “Sommilito Sikkhak Samaj” panel are and Prof. Md. Hasibur Rahman (vice-president), Prof. Saeed Ferdous (treasurer), Associate Prof. Borhan Uddin (joint secretary) including ten executive members Prof. Masum Shahriar, Umme Sayka, Mahbub Kabir, Maliha Nargis Ahmed, Manowar Hossain Tuhin, Sabir Hossain, Shamima Sultana, Mohammad Abur Razzaq, Sayma Khatun and Hosne Ara.
