Lawmaker Abdul Mannan passes away

DHAKA, – Awami League leader Abdul Mannan, MP, of Bogura-1 constituency passed away early today after suffering from a cardiac arrest.

He was 66. He died in the city’s Labaid Hospital around 8:15 am, his personal secretary Matiur Rahman Mati told BSS.

He suddenly became sick at his city’s Dhanmondi residence on Thursday and was taken to the Popular Hospital. Later, he was transferred to the Labaid Hospital.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep sorrow at the death of Abdul Mannan, MP, and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family. She also prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.

Mannan served as organizing secretary of Awami League and President of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL). He was elected parliament member thrice from Bogura in 2008, 2014 and 2018.
