DHAKA, – Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today wondered if BNP does not understand the difference between a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and an agreement.

He said this while commenting on BNP’s letter to the prime minister with a demand for publishing details of the ‘agreements and MoUs’ singed with India during the premier’s visit to the neighboring country.

“There are many experienced and learned persons in BNP leadership. I am astonished that they do not understand the difference between an MoU and an agreement,” he told a press conference on contemporary issues at the ministry conference room here.

Mentioning that MoUs and agreements are not the same thing, the minister said no agreement was signed with India during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to India.

“BNP is pretending that they do not know anything. Why are they terming MoUs as agreements? Nothing is secret there. It is not an agreement,” he said.

About the ongoing anti-graft drive, Quader said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also said in parliament that the drive was not stopped, rather it would continue towards upazila level.

Asked when the onion price will be normal, the minister said imported onions will start coming to the country within two or three days.
