Bangladesh bag 4th spot in Bangamata volleyball

DHAKA, – Bangladesh women’s volleyball team finished fourth in the 1st Bangamata Asian Senior Women’s Central Zone International Volleyball Championship losing to Kyrgyzstan by 3-0 set in the third place deciding match held today (Thursday) at Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in the city’s Mirpur.

In the day’s match, Kyrgyzstan looked too strong for Bangladesh eves as they won the first, second and third sets comfortably by 25-13, 25-14 and 25-12 points to finish third in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Nepal won the title of the championship beating the Maldives by straight 3-0 set in the final held at the same venue.

The Himalaya Kingdom won all the three set by 25-13, 25-12 and 25-8 points to maintain their supremacy of the championship.

Agriculture Minister Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque MP was the chief guest in the prize distribution ceremony and handed over the prizes.

Local Lawmaker Elias Uddin Mollah, championship sponsor and Younus Group chairman Mohammad Younus, Bangladesh Olympic Association Secretary General Syed Shahed Reza, Bangladesh Volleyball Federation (BVF) president and Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam, BVF general secretary Ashikur Rahman Miku, BVF Joint general secretary Fazle Rabbi Babul and Maldives Ambassador to Bangladesh Aishath Shaan Shakir were also present on the concluding function.
