Outsider students banned at Movement of JU

Shahadat Sumon, JU correspondent: Jahangirnagar University (JU) authorities has been banned all students who are staying outside of the university to attend in meeting or rally_ a press release said that.

The students also asked not to stay at office or residential area adjacent to the campus.

The food canteen, shops of dormitories and belonged area have also been closed.

Earlier, the authorities have decided to vacate its dormitories. The decision was taken at the meeting of hall provost committee that was held 11 am on November 6. The students who were staying at the dormitories was asked to leave their respective dorms by 3.30 pm.

President of the Hall Provost Committee Professor Bashir Ahmed confirmed The Independent yesterday.

‘We have decided to shut all of the canteens and food stores of under the dorms and adjoining shops. We took the decision as the syndicate decided to shut the university’, he said.

However, the protesters vowed to continue their ongoing movement on the campus.

Nazir Amin Chowdhury Joy, one of the protester said, ‘We will withdraw our movement for today (Wednesday) in night. We will try to stay in our dormitories. If the university bar us to stay there, we will stay near at the campus area. We will continue our further movement from tomorrow.

They announced their next program on Thursday as locking the administrative building at 9am, Protest march at 12pm and Acoustic concert at evening in front of the residence of Vice-Chancellor.
