Sajeeb Wazed Joy inaugurates ‘Nagad Account in 1 minute’

Collaborating ‘Nagad’- The Digital Financial Service of Bangladesh Postal Division with ‘Porichoy’ application; Mr. Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Information and Communication Technology Advisor to the Honorable Prime Minister inaugurated ‘Nagad Account in 1 minute’ service.

Mr. Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Information and Communication Technology Advisor to the Honorable Prime Minister inaugurated ‘Nagad Account in 1 minute’- service on Tuesday morning at the secretariat building.

Usually in Bangladesh, opening a mobile banking account took 3 to 10 working days. But now, The Digital Financial Service of Bangladesh Postal Division – ‘Nagad’ has omitted these differences of days and hours by introducing the convenience of opening a mobile account in just 1 minute. Through the ‘Porichoy’ application, ‘Nagad’ can now perform automatic facial authentication and verify National ID in just a minute. As an outcome of this service by ‘Nagad’- fraudulent customer registration will now be prevented more effectively.

Led by Honorable Minister of Posts and Telecommunications Division- Mr. Mustafa Jabbar, the government service ‘Nagad’ was launched this year by our Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on 26 March, our Independence Day. In just 7 months after commencement, ‘Nagad’ is now the 2nd most popular financial service of the country. Also, ‘Nagad’- the digital financial service of Bangladesh Postal Division has successfully put an end to the monopoly market of mobile financial services in Bangladesh which existed for the last 11 years.

In addition, Nagad currently offers the lowest cash-out charge in Bangladesh. Nagad only charges Tk. 14.50 per thousand for cash-out. Also, customers will now receive Tk. 5 cashback per thousand for cash-in.

At the inauguration ceremony, Honorable Minister of Posts and Telecommunications Division Mr. Mustafa Jabbar, Secretary of Posts and Telecommunications Division Ashok Kumar Biswas, Director General of Bangladesh Postal Division Shudhangshu Shekhar Bhadra and Managing Director of Third Wave Technologies Tanvir Ahmed Mishuk were present among other high officials.
