Another accused in Abrar murder case arrested in city

DHAKA, – Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested another accused in BUET student Abrar Fahad murder case from city’s Uttara area this afternoon.

The arrestee Muaj Abu Hurayra, 20, is a 17th batch student of the Electric and Electronics Engineering (EEE) Department of Bangladesh University of
Engineering and Technology (BUET). Deputy Commissioner of DMP Masudur Rahman told BSS that the detectives of the DMP arrested Muaj from Uttara’s sector no.14 in the city.

He said Muaj’s name was mentioned in FIR of the murder case. The number of arrestees stood at 19 in the Abrar Fahad murder case with the arrest of Muaj. Muaj, son of Mashrur-uz-Zaman, hailed from Kuliarchar upazila of Kishoreganj district, the police official said.

Abrar Fahad, a second-year student of Electric and Electronics Engineering (EEE) Department of the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), was beaten to death in the university’s dormitory on Sunday.

Police recovered his body from between the ground floor and the second floor of the Sher-e-Bangla Hall of BUET at 3am on Monday. Abrar’s father Barkat Ullah filed a case against 19 people with Chawkbazar Police Station in connection with Abrar murder on Monday last.
