DHAKA, – Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said both organisational and administrative actions have been taken against the perpetrators involved in the killing of BUET student Abrar Fahad, reiterating the warning that no wrongdoer will be spared during the period of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina-led government.

“The killing of BUET student Abrar is very regretful. Nobody should be killed for expressing the opinion of differences,” Quader, also Awami League general secretary, told a press briefing at the AL President’s Office in Dhanmondi here.

Noting that nine people were arrested in this regard, he said some 11 people have been expelled from Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) for their allegedly involvement in the Abrar killing.

“Those involved in the Abrar killing must be punished…no wrongdoer will be spared,” the AL general secretary warned.

Nobody escaped for wrongdoing during the regime of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the past, while there were examples of taking organisational and administrative actions against the AL ministers, MPs and leaders for their involvement in wrongdoings in the past and present, he added.

But, Quader said, there was no example of taking organisational and administrative actions against BNP men during its regime. “BNP had turned the country into a haven of corruption through Hawa Bhaban,” he added.

He said the BCL did many good works in the past and that is why the image of the party and BCL could not be tarnished due to some people.

“The present government has many achievements. The country’s people have been enjoying the benefits of the development of the Sheikh Hasina-led government,” he said.

Chhatra League had played an important role in the country’s independence and democratic movements, the Road Transport and Bridges Minister said, adding despite that, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina does not spare any wrongdoer of her party.

AL Joint general secretaries Mahbubul Alam Hanif and Jahangir Kabir Nanak, its organising secretary and state minister for shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, publicity and publication deputy secretary Aminul Islam Amin, deputy office secretary Barrister Biplab Barua and AL leaders Adv Kamrul Islam and Anwar Hossain were, among others, present.
