Malaysian High Commissioner calls on DU VC

DHAKA, – Malaysia’s Acting High Commissioner to Bangladesh Amir Farid bin Abu Hasan called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice- Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman at his office on the campus today.

He was accompanied by former Prof of Malaysia Sarawak University Dr Zin Zawawi Zakaria, said a DU press release.

During the meeting, they discussed matters of mutual interest and exchanged views regarding the possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programmes on palm oil, rubber, water, soil management, environment and other arenas among the DU and Malaysian
universities.

DU VC Akhtaruzzaman said an excellent friendly relation has been prevailing between Bangladesh and Malaysia for long time.

Amir Farid said his country is interested to work together with Bangladesh in various sectors including education. He informed that Malaysian Prime
Minister is expected to pay a visit to Bangladesh in early next year to attend a gala programme marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The envoy sought a programme for Malaysian Prime Minister at Dhaka University during his Bangladesh visit.

Akhtaruzzaman assured the Malaysian Acting High Commissioner of chalking out a programme for Malaysian Prime Minister through discussion with concerned authorities. “We will be happy to welcome the Malaysian Prime Minister at Dhaka University,” the VC added.
