Those involved in misdeeds and corruption will not be spared: Hasan

CHATTOGRAM, – Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today warned that none will be spared from the government’s tougher stance against the persons who would be found involved in misdeeds and corruption.

The information minister said the drive against the corrupt people, wrongdoers and drug dealers would continue to make the country free from misdeeds and impropriety.

He said whatever may be the identity of the wrongdoers, those who would be found involved in any irregularity and corruption will be brought to the book.

“After the capital, the drive in Chattogram city has already started, it will take place in every look and corner of the country and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has cleared her stance against wrongdoers,” Dr Hasan said.

The information minister said this as chief guest while inaugurating the national television inter-school debate competition of Bangladesh Television Chatogram centre at Theater Institute of Chattogram this afternoon.

Speaking about the debate competition, the minister said the present government believes in building a logic-based society and debate is imperative to establish logic and justice based state.

Dr Hasan, also a former renowned university debater, said a worthy man is not built only by flourishing his talents and patriotism, compassion and social values must be infused into one’s character.

He laid special emphasis on teachers and guardians role for building up the students with noble qualities. The minister urged the students to abstain from smoking, addicting to social communication media and drug abuse for leading a peaceful social life and a bright future nation.

Director General of Bangladesh Television Harunur Rashid presided over the inaugural function while Washika Aysha Khan MP, additional secretaries of information ministry Nurul Karim and Azaharul Hoque and general manager of Bangladesh Television Chattogram centre Netai Kurmar Bhattacharjee, among others, addressed the function.

A total of 48 debate teams, including 18 from Chattogram, are participating in the competition.
