A shining star at Bangladesh Police

As the bright stars glow in the midst of the countless rising stars in a dark night, there are some police officers in Bangladesh Police shining like those bright stars. He is none other DIG Habibur Rahman. At present, he is working as a DIG of Dhaka Range in Bangladesh Police, Dhaka Range. Prior to this, he worked in the police headquarters as DIG, Admin and Discipline of the Police. He is well known among his peers for his excellent work ethics, humility and outstanding professionalism. Despite his job as a policeman, he has a reputation for giving back to society: to stand up for the neglected people from all spheres of the society. Apart from this, he is also the General Secretary of the Bangladesh Kabadi Federation and the Vice-President of the International Kabadi Federation. Through championing this sport he is trying to raise Bangladesh’s fame among the pool of countries that play this game.

For quite a long period, he has been maneuvering the activities of the Bangladesh Police’s administration, personal management, discipline and professional standard intelligence and special affairs branch. He has made significant contributions to the administrative management and maintaining discipline of millions of police personnel in the country. He has made significant strides by facilitating the digitalization and technological modernization in Bangladesh Police. He has taken many commendable initiatives in the internal management of the police including e-filing, preservation of all information of the police members through PIMS. However, he is popular in the community for his humanitarian work at different levels.

As a supervising officer of the Intelligence and Special Affairs Branch of Bangladesh Police, in coordination with the internal and other intelligence agencies of the country, he is making an instrumental effort to stabilize the overall law and order in the country. He also reviews different issues in regard to professional organizations including the garment sector and made necessary coordination with the field-level units of the police through the Special Affairs Branch so that the law and order does not go out of control.

A person with innovative mindset he has created new posts within Bangladesh Police and introduced the promotion in various posts. During the past one year, he has taken admirable initiatives to create additional posts including 3 additional IG posts of Police, 17 DIG posts, 5 Additional DIG posts, 235 Superintendents of Police, and 423 Assistant Police Super posts.

To tell something about his childhood: Habibur Rahman was born in 1967 in the village of Chandra Dighaliya under the district of Gopalganj. His education life started at Chandradighinala Mollapara Government Primary School. Later, he graduated with honors degree from the Institute of Education and Research (IER) of Dhaka University. He joined the police as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in 1997.

Bangladesh Police Blood Bank started its journey a few years back with his sincere efforts. The Blood Bank is located at the Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital. Along with the police members civilians can donate blood here and get blood if needed.
