DHAKA  – Water levels at 54 river stations monitored by Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) have marked rise while 39 stations recorded fall.

Among the 94 monitored stations, one river station has been registered steady while water levels at 10 stations are flowing above the danger level, a bulletin issued by the FFWC said here today.

The Surma at the Kanaighat, Sylhet and Sunamganj, the Kushiyara at Amalshid, Sheola and Sherpur-Sylhet, Old Surma at Derai, Someswari at Kalmakanda, Dharla at Kurigram and Teesta at Dalia are flowing above danger
level by 78 cm, 35cm, 66cm, 1cm, 14 cm, 14 cm, 63cm, 22cm, 31cm and 0 cm respectively.

The Brahmaputra-Jamuna, and the Ganges-Padma are in rising trend, while upper Meghna basin the rivers of South eastern hilly basin in falling trend. The Surma-Kushiyara rivers in the north-eastern region of the country may
continue falling in next 48 hours. As a result the flood situation at some places of Sylhet and Sunamganj districts in the low lying lands may improve.

Significant rainfall was recorded at some stations in different districts during the last 24 hours ending at 6 am today, the bulletin added.

A total of 48 millimeters (mm) rainfall was recorded at Jalpaiguri and 19.70 mm at Sillong.
