Maritime ports asked to hoist signal 3

DHAKA, – Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three as deep conviction is continuing over North Bay owing to the influence of a low over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas.

“Squally weather is likely to affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas owing to the influence of a low. So, maritime ports are advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three,” said a met office weather bulletin today.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.

The low pressure area over Northwest Bay of Bengal, coastal areas of west Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh now lies over Gangetic west Bengal and adjoining area.

The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajsthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, centre of the low, thence northeastwards to Assam across central part of Bangladesh. One of its associated trough extends up to North Bay. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay.

Light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal & Chattogram divisions and at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh & Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
