DHAKA,  – Major rivers crossed danger marks at 21 more points across the country as all the four of the country’s major basins continued to rise due to incessant downpours and onrush of water from upstream, according to a bulletin of Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) issued here today.

Flood situation in Tangail and Sirajganj districts may improve while flood situation in Manikganj, Rajbari, Faridpur and Munshiganj districts may remain unchanged in the next 24 hours, the FFWC bulletin said adding flood situation in Bogra, Jamalpur, Kurigram, Gaibandha and Sylhet districts may improve in next 24 hours.

Water levels at 53 river stations monitored by Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) have marked rise while 35 stations recorded fall.

Among the 93 monitored stations, water level at five river stations has been registered steady while water levels at 21 river stations are flowing above danger level, the bulletin added.

All the major rivers of the country are in falling trend except the Padma and the rivers around the Dhaka City, the bulletin added.

The Surma at Sunamganj, the Kushiyara at Sherpur- Sylhet, the Titas at B.Baria, the Meghna at Chandpur, the Dharla at Kurigram, the Ghagot at Gaibandha, the Karatoa at Chak Rahimpur, the Brahmaputra at Noonkhawa and Chilmari, the Jamuna at Fulchari, Bahadurabad, Sariakandi, Kazipur, Serajganj and Aricha, the Atrai at Baghabari, the Dhaleswari at Elasin, the Old Brahmaputra at Jamalpur, the Padma at Goalundo, Bhagyakul and Surewsar are flowing above danger level 17cm, 31cm, 22cm, 14cm, 21cm, 53cm, 3cm, 21cm, 61cm, 101cm, 110cm, 86cm, 85cm, 75cm, 42cm, 83cm, 95cm, 16cm, 67cm, 31cm and 1cm respectively.
