Newlyweds and 9 others buried in Sirajganj

SIRAJGANJ,  – Eleven ill-fated microbus passengers including the newlyweds were buried with a heavy heart in their village homes at different places of the district today.

The newlyweds and their bridal party met the tragic end of their lives when a train rammed over a microbus at a unprotected level crossing at Swalop area under Ullapara upazila yesterday.

The fetal accident occurred at Swalop rail crossing on Dhaka-Rajshahi rail route when the Dhaka bound Padma Express hit the microbus carrying a bridal party.

Thousands of people joined the janaza and broke into tears seeing the bodies of the victims of the tragedy.

The deceased persons were identified as bridegroom Rajon Sheikh, 22, bride Sumaiya Khatun, 18, Alif Bayezid, 8, Bhasha Sheikh, 55, Abdus Samad,50, his son Shakil, 20, Shariful Islam, 26, driver of the microbus Swadhin, 45, helper Abdul Ahad sujan, 21, Khokan, 35 and sister-in-law of the bride Mamata Begum 35.

Ullapara Upazila Chairman Gazi Shafikul Islam Shafi, Poura Councilor Moynul Haque, haripur Union chairman Abdus Sabur and people of different sections of the society joined the janaza.
