Female students vow to build child marriage free society

PANCHAGARH – Over 700 female students of eight high schools at a rally here have vowed for building a society free from child marriage that shatters life of the girl children and hindering female education.

Debiganj upazila administration in association with the social advocacy and knowledge dissemination unit of RDRS Bangladesh organised the rally with assistance of Palli Karma Sohayok Foundation at Laksmirhat under Debiganj
upazila yesterday, a press release said today.

Debiganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ram Krishna Barman addressed the discussion arranged on the occasion to create social awareness for preventing child marriage and promoting female education as the chief guest.

With Coordinator (Microfinance) of RDRS Bangladesh Gautam Halder in the chair, Upazila Vice-chairman Parimal Dey Sarker and Programme Manager (Microfinance) for Panchagarh Rezaul Karim addressed the occasion as special
guests.

Earlier, the female students, who are members of the Adolescents’ Clubs and Youth Forums of the schools, their teachers and guardians, brought out the rally.

Later, they took oath for creating social awareness to resist child marriage and promote female education, flourish leadership and empowerment of women for building a better society.

The speakers called upon the adolescents, their guardians and local public representatives to prevent any child marriage through collective initiatives.

The chief guest appreciated the female students for their firm commitment to free the society from child marriage for promoting female education to achieve the sustainable development goals by 2030.
