OC Moazzem must face music: Kamal

DHAKA, – Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today said none is above the law and former Officer-In-Charge (OC) Moazzem Hossain must be brought to justice.

“Those who are involved in any offences, whether he is an OC or the ministry officials and public representatives, will face music,” he told journalists at his ministry office.

The minister said Sonagazi thana ex OC Moazzem Hossain will face punishment accordingly if the court finds him guilty in the murder case of Madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi.

He said a case was filed against OC Moazzem Hossain and the charge sheet was submitted before court, “Court will take its own time to find out his involvement then accordingly will be brought him to justice.”

The home minister said holidaymakers celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr with festivity except few sporadic incidents as the government has ensured a foolproof security across the country.

“Coast Guard, Police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and intelligence agencies were active during the Eid celebrations. They worked hard to ensure security at tourist places along with the help of common people,” he said.

Replying to a query, Kamal said pilot Captain Fazal Mahmood completed immigration formalities, while crossing the immigration, adding, “When immigration police asked him to show his passport, he (captain), said that his passport was in his bag.”

A sub Inspector of Immigration Police was suspended temporarily in this regard, the minister said. Replying to another, he said the immigration department would be reorganized soon.

“We face different challenges everyday in the immigration department. We also have to check travel passes, while returnee Bangladeshi from other country. As we are receiving information from different countries about criminal activities of some of the returnees,” Kamal said.
