Water levels in 24 rivers rise, 61 fall

DHAKA  – Water levels at 24 river stations monitored by Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) have marked rise while 61 stations recorded fall.

Among the 94 monitored stations, eight river stations have been registered steady while water levels at four river stations are flowing above danger level, a bulletin issued by the FFWC said here today.

The Surma at the Kanaighat, the Kushiyara at Sheola, Sherpur- Sylhet and Old Surma at Derai are flowing above danger level by 12cm, 2cm, 9cm and 32cm, respectively.

Water level in all the major rivers are falling except the Surma and Kushiyara, the bulletin added.

Significant rainfall was recorded at some stations in different districts during the last 24 hours ending at 6 am today.

A total of 90 millimetres (mm) rainfall was recorded at Lorergarh and 61mm at Kanaighat.
