Probe body formed over Biman aircraft hijack attempt

The ministry of civil aviation has formed a five-member committee to investigate the attempted hijacking of a Biman Bangladesh aircraft. The committee will be headed by Additional Secretary Md Mokabbir Hossain, said a press release issued by the ministry on Sunday night.

The other members of the committee are: Joint Secretary Zanendra Nath Sarker;
Director (Flight Safety & Regulations) of Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh, Wing Commander Chowdhury Md Zia-ul Kabir; Air Commodore (Rtd) Mahbub Jahan Khan director (planning) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines; and senior security consultant of CAAB group Captain (Rtd) Md Alamgir.

The committee has been asked to submit its report within five working days. The committee has also been asked to come up with recommendations to prevent such untoward situations and practicable actions in case of such situations in future.

Previously, on Sunday night, an armed suspect who tried to hijack a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight was killed in an exchange of fire with security forces during a raid at the Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong.
