2 women honoured with Joyeeta award in Kamalganj

On the occasion of Begum Rokeya Day-2018, two women were honored with Joyeeta award in Kamalganj upazila of Moulvibazar on Sunday. In observance of the Begum Rokeya Day-2018 a colorful procession was brought out in the morning with the initiative of Kamalganj Upazila Administration and Women Affairs Department. Later a discussion meeting was held at the Upazila Parishad auditorium.
Kamlganj Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Sumi Akter chaired the meeting while upazila women’s affairs officer Madhu Chanda Das conducted the meeting. Among others, women leaders Professor Manjushree Roy, Munna Roy and journalist and social worker Abdul Hannan Chinu were also present at the occasion.
Appreciating the role of women in the development of the country, the speakers said that women are no longer backward. They are able to play a role in the development of the country if they are provided with necessary assistance. Women are successful in all fields including administrative, social, culture and sports.
In this meeting, two nominated Joyeeta’s of Kamalganj upazila Selina Begum of Shamsharnagar union and Romana Akhter of Gopalnagar area of Kamalganj municipality with honored with crests.
