Quader: Prime Minister advised Shakib al Hasan not to contest in polls
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said Shakib al Hasan will not be participating in the election because Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina advised him to pay more attention to cricket.
Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, made the statement while he was talking to reporters at Awami League’s party office, in Dhanmondi, on Sunday noon.
The prime minister advised the all-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan, not to contest in the upcoming 11th parliamentary election and concentrate on cricket,” the minister said.
However, he claimed that Mashrafe bin Mortaza will buy a nomination form on Sunday.
Awami League will not react if the Election Commission defers the election schedule, Obaidul Quader added.
