Police force ready to face any kind of destructive activities : IGP Rafiqul Islam, Gaibandha Correspondent
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Mohammad Javed Patwary on Monday said that “now, the police force is too much strong and is ready to face any kind of destructive activities including sabotage and violence in the country by the troublemakers to ensure peace and tranquility of the mass people.”
Javed Patwary came up with the comments while addressing an elite assembly organised by district police on the premises of the Palashbari thana after inaugurating newly constructed thana bhaban through unveiling the plaque as the chief guest.
He also said that the thana bhaban has been built here for providing desired services and security to the mass people.
Deputy inspector general (DIG) of Rangpur range Debdash Bhattacharjwa, Commissioner of Rangpur Metropolitan Police Mohammad Abdul Alim Mahmud, Additional DIG Mazid Ali, RAB-13 Commander Mozammel Haque, Deputy Commissioner Gautam Chandra Pal and President of Palashbari Upazila Awami League Abu Bakar Prodhan were present as special guests with Superintendent of Police Engineer Abdul Mannan Miah in the chair.
The people of the district feel embarrassment when they remember a number of tragic incidents that took place by vested quarters here in 2013 and 2014, the chief guest said.
It is mentionable that the parliamentary election is coming, so that the fire terrorists and the criminals can plan to conduct terrorism and sabotage again to make the country unstable but the police will must resist it, he added.
In this context, the IGP also sought overall cooperation of the people to fight the terrorists and the criminals and root out their activities from the country for ever.
“Bangladesh is in the highway of development,” Patwary said, adding that the police will be the associates of turning Bangladesh into middle income country by 2021 and developed one by 2041 envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Mentioning drug as the hindrance of the country’s development, the IGP called upon all to build social movement against the drugs and to help the law enforcers for nabbing the drug traders to build drug-free society.
Earlier, he also planted a sapling of Palash flower on the thana premises as the chief guest.
President of district Awami League Advocate Syed Shams-ul-Alam Hiru, Additional SP Rahat Gowhari, Assistant SP Rezinur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Palashbari thana Mostafiqzur Rahman, OC of detective branch Mehedi Hasan, local elite and journalists of print and electronic media were present on the occasion.
