BNP-Jamaat’s ‘greater national unity’ conspiracy against country
DHAKA – Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanok today said the ‘greater national unity’ of BNP-Jamaat alliance is a conspiracy against the country.
“The greater national unity of BNP-Jamaat alliance is a conspiracy against the country and a stage of ill politics. The pro-liberation forces and the patriotic people should make resistance against those conspirators,” he said.
Nanak was addressing a checque distribution pogramme of Mohammadpur branch of Social Services Department at a community center in that area in the city, said a press release.
The cheques for donation money were distributed among 500 people, including elderly and horijon community, and voluntary organizations under the Dhaka-13 constituency.
Social Service Divisional Director Tapan Kumar Saha presided over the programme that was addressed by Social Service Department Director General Gazi Mohammad Nurul Kabir and ward councilors Habibur Rahman Mizan, Nurul Islam Ratan and KM Shahiduzzaman.
Nanak said Begum Khaleda Zia has been jailed for embezzling orphans’ money while Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been allocating record high budget every year for the social safety net programmes for the welfare of the destitute.
He added that the allocation for the welfare of the insolvent freedom fighters and their families was increased to Taka 400 crore, the number of elderly allowance beneficiaries was increased to 40 lakh from 35 lakh and the number of beneficiaries of allowances for widows and women abandoned by husband increased to 14 lakh from 12.65 lakh.
Nanak urged the dwellers of Dhaka-13 constituency to extend support to Sheikh Hasina nominated candidates in the upcoming general elections.
