2 killed, 10 injured in Thakurgaon road accident
RANGPUR – Two people were killed and 10 others injured in a road accident at 29-mile Haripukur point on the Dhaka-Thakurgaon Highway under Sadar upazila in Thakurgaon district today.
Police said the accident occurred when a Panchagarh-bound night-coach from Dhaka collided head-on with a Dhaka-bound covered van of Kazi Farms Limited amid inclement weather, leaving two people dead and 10 others wounded.
“The deceased were identified as covered van driver Sajjad Hossain, 50, son of Hamidur Rahman of Mirpur area in Dhaka city and night coach passenger Mashiur Rahman, 35,” said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Thakurgaon Sadar Thana Abdul Latif Mian.
Police immediately rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies. The injured were sent to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital (TSH). “Three of the injured persons were sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital from Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital,” on-duty physician at TSH Dr Zinnat Pervin said.
The bodies have been kept at the TSH morgue and a case was filed in this connection, the OC said.
