5-day Labour Welfare Conference begins

DHAKA : The opening ceremony of the Labour Welfare Conference 2018 was held at the international conference room of CIRDAP auditorium in the capital on Sunday, reports UNB.
Speaking as chief guest at the programme, Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Nurul Islam said “We have to ensure quality service for all expatriate workers and have to make sure that no expatriate worker returns without having the service.”
A total of 44 officials from labour welfare wings from 26 foreign missions are participating in the five-day conference, scheduled to conclude on February 8.
“Around 12 million Bangladeshi workers are employed in 165 foreign countries. Every year more than 20 lakhs people enter the labour market where Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry has managed to ensure a proper immigration management which is very important for country’s economy”, he said.
Bangladeshi expatriate workers also share the achievement of incumbent government in creating employment in foreign countries and participating in the advancement of the country by sending remittance, he added.
Md Aminul lslam, Additional Secretary of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry, Maran Kumar Chakraborty, Managing Director (Additional Secretary) Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Limited, Md Salim Reza, Director General (Additional Secretary) Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training, Gazi Mohammad Julhash, Director General (Additional Secretary) Wage Earners’ Welfare Board, Dr. Nomita Halder, Secretary of the Ministry were also present there.
