Padmaavat crosses Rs 80 crore

padmaavat_8Entertainment Desk: The beauty of Rani Padmavati aka Deepika Padukone, the righteousness of Shahid Kapoor as Raja Ratan Singh and a completely off-the-rails character of Ranveer Singh as Allaudin Khilji has left the audience in awe of this Sanjay Leela Bhansali film. Padmaavat has managed to earn Rs 27 core on Saturday, taking its total collection to Rs 83 crore. The makers are also confident that Padmaavat will register a huge collection on Sunday, reports The Indian Express.
It seems the long weekend is working well for the film, which has remained in the news for quite some time now. Despite the protests, the film has managed to win hearts of the audience and come out victorious in terms of box office performance. While in some states, the controversy has worked against the film (some states have not released the film), in others, people are keen to find out why Padmaavat is courting controversy time and again.
Padmaavat box office collection:
January 27 – Rs 27 crore
January 26 – Rs 32 crore
January 25 – Rs 19 crore
January 24 (Paid Previews) – Rs 5 crore
Total – Rs 83 crore
Meanwhile, the film is performing really well in the international markets. Padmaavat has been lauded by critics and audiences alike. In her review of the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial, Indian Express film critic Shubhra Gupta said, “All those agitating over how Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat would trample all over Rajput pride, you may rest easy: the director didn’t need a memo from the Karni Sena and all the other self-styled ‘armies’ on keeping it ‘sanskaari’ – his entire film is a relentlessly opulent, magnificently-mounted paean to Rajput ‘aan baan shaan’.”
