President Abdul Hamid on Tuesday said the new generation of the country needs to be skilled to take the development endeavors of the nation forward.
“The development and progress of a nation depend on the education of the young generation. So, the new generation should be at the focal point of all of our efforts,” he said.
The President was addressing the 4th convocation of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) at Mirpur Cantonment in the city this afternoon.
The President said Bangladesh is a country of huge potentials but it needs skilled and competent human resources to unlock that.
Noting that Bangladesh still could not utilise its resources and capacity to large extent, he said adding, “If we can build the country’s huge population as educated and skilled one, it’ll be a blessing for us.”
Abdul Hamid, also the Chancellor of the university, said science education will have to be given importance alongside humanities and business studies in the country’s primary and upper stage of education.
