The actress, who was to kick off her upcoming musical drama on Friday, refused to shoot because the Manish Malhotra-designed clothes failed to live upto her expectations, reports Mumbai Mirror.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was expected to kick off Atul Manjrekar’s directorial debut, Fanney Khan, on Friday, October 6, with a threeday schedule in Mumbai. But the 43-year-old actress called off the shoot at the last minute because she wasn’t happy with the costumes designed by Manish Malhotra. While Anil Kapoor, who plays a struggling singer and doting fa ther, has wrapped up most of his portions, Ash and Rajkummar Rao, who plays her love interest, were expected to start shooting this week. But now, Mirror has learnt that the duo will only start filming post-Diwali. The actress apparently wants “personal time” on October 8 for Karwa Chauth and on October 11 to bring in pa-in-law Amitabh Bachchan’s 75th birthday with the family in Maldives.
Meanwhile, Manish will now re-work the costumes to make them edgier, highly-stylised and fashioned after American pop star Beyonce’s fashion aesthetic.Confirming the news, Prerna Arora, who is co-producing the film with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, told Mirror, “We were all set to shoot with Aishwarya this week but the costumes were not to her satisfaction. Costumes play a big role in the film as she portrays the character of a diva. She is creatively involved in every detail and since the costumes were not ready, she didn’t want to start work just yet. When I learnt this, I decided to postpone the shoot. Aishwarya wants to look perfect in the film and she will not accept anything that is not up to the mark.”
