SC upholds bail of ex-judge Joynul Abedin

DHAKA : The Supreme Court on Monday upheld a High Court order that had granted anticipatory bail to its former judge Joynul Abedin in connection with a notice issued by the Anti-Corruption Commission in 2010 seeking his wealth statement, reports UNB.
A three-member bench of the Appellate Division, headed by senior judge Justice M Abdul Wahhab Miah, passed the order disposing of a petition filed by the ACC challenging the HC order.
Senior lawyer Mainul Hosen argued for Joynul Abedin, former judge of the Appellate Division, while advocate Khurshid Alam Khan stood for the ACC.
Khurshid Alam told UNB that Joynul Abedin will be on bail till the hearing of the rule which was issued by the HC.
