RMG workers to get Eid holidays in phases

DHAKA : Garment workers will go on Eid holidays from June 22 in phases to avoid traffic jams on highways, reports UNB.
The decision was taken at a meeting on law and order situation during the upcoming Eid holidays at the Home Ministry with Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan in the chair.
“Garment factory owners will allow Eid leave during June 22-25 in phases and pay arrears and festival bonus by the time,” the minister said while talking to reporters after the meeting.
He said the garment owners have agreed to pay arrears and Eid bonus by June 22-25 and grant them leave in phases so that no unpleasant incident takes place like the previous years for bonus and arrears and people do not face sufferings for jams on highways.
He said members of law enforcement agencies will remain alert on highways, waterways and railways during the Eid holidays to ensure safe journeys of homebound people.
Asaduzzaman said members of law enforcement agencies arrested many members of doping gang from the capital and nearby areas ahead of Eid.
Responding to a question whether there is any militant threat during the upcoming Eid vacation, he said members of law enforcement agencies will be on alert though there is no threat.
Leaders of BGMEA and Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), high officials of the ministry and law enforcement agencies were present.
