RANGPUR, – Newly appointed Vice-chancellor (VC) of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) Professor Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah, BTFO, has said the university will become a world standard place for higher education, research and other activities, reports BSS.
“Necessary steps would be taken to turn BRUR into a modern and time- befitting university and place of excellence for higher education, research and all other related subjects,” he said.
Professor Kalimullah made these observations today for teachers, students, officials and employees of the university after joining at his new office in the campus.
Registrar of BRUR Muhammad Ibrahim Kabir, teachers, students, officials and employees of the university welcomed the new VC with bouquet on behalf of different faculties, departments, offices and socio-cultural organisations on the occasion.
After taking over charge of his office, Professor Kalimullah cleared documents for salary and Eid bonus of teachers, officials and employees, signed several important files and approved for publication of results of examinations of 15 batches of nine departments.
Later in the afternoon, the new VC went to village Laldighee Fatehpur under Pirganj upazila and placed wreaths at the grave of renowned nuclear scientist Dr MA Wazed Miah.
He also offered Fateha and special munajat there seeking eternal peace for the departed soul of the nuclear scientist and continuous peace, progress and well-being of the people of Bangladesh.
Teachers of different departments and officials of the university accompanied the VC and took part in munajat.
Earlier, President of Bangladesh and Chancellor of the university Abdul Hamid appointed Professor Dr Kalimullah as the new BRUR VC on June 1 last for the next four-year term as per clause 10(1) of Begum Rokeya University Ordinance 2009.
Professor Dr Kalimullah of the Department of Public Administration of Dhaka University had been conducting his responsibility as Pro Vice-chancellor of Bangladesh University of Professionals on deputation till he was appointed at the new VC of BRUR.
