Mushfiqur sets up 4-wicket win for Rupganj in premier cricket

DHAKA: Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim led from the front to enable Legends of Rupganj to post a four-wicket victory over Brothers Union Club in the first round match of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League held on Wednesday at BKSP ground in Savar, reports BSS.
Favored by coin, Brothers Union Club, rode on their skipper Myshukur Rahman’s responsible 65-run managed to score a decent total of 206 for 9 from their stipulated 50 overs. Myshukur hit five boundaries and one over boundary during his 90-ball stay on the crease. However Dhiman Ghosh (30 n.o) and Kazi Kamrul (29) got a good start but could not convert those into big knocks in face of tight bowling display by Rupganj bowlers. Sharif Dewan was the most successful bowler for Rupganj as he grabbed three wickets conceding 25 runs. He was well supported by Mashrafe Mortaza and Asif Hasan who both claimed two wickets apiece for 28 and 31 runs respectively. Chasing a winning target of 207 runs, Rupganj reached home in 46.1 overs with four wickets in hand. Rupganj faced early batting jolt as they lost both their openers inside 10 over. However skipperMushfiqur Rahim played a true captain to ensure Rupganj’s victory to remain unbeaten with 75 runs along with Mosharraf Hossain (19 n,o).
The diminutive batsman struck five boundaries and one over boundary during his 103-ball stay on the crease. He was later named the player of the match for his brilliant batting performance. Avishek Nayer and Nehaduzzaman of Brothers Union shared two wickets each giving away 22 and 34 runs respectively.
