Police cordon off 2 ‘militant hideouts’ in Ctg

Capture (650 x 430)CHITTAGONG : Police on Monday cordoned off two houses, said to be the hideouts of militants, at Colonel Haat in the city on Monday evening, reports UNB.
Nazmul Ahsan, additional deputy commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (West zone), said a team of police, including a bomb disposal unit, and Special Weapon and Tactic Team (SWAT) members, cordoned off the two houses around 4:15 pm.
Some 200 members of the law enforcement agencies are preparing to launch an operation in the houses, he said.
Earlier, on March 16, four suspected militants, including a female one and a six-year-old boy, were killed during a special raid by joint forces on a militant hideout at Premtala in Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong, ending an overnight standoff. Two SWAT members were also injured during the gunfight.
The special team also rescued 20 people of a number of families who got trapped in the house during the drive.
