PM pays homage to Bangabandhu on Victory Day

DHAKA,  – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the occasion of the 46th Victory Day, reports BSS.

The premier paid the homage by placing a wreath at the portrait of the Father of the Nation in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi here this morning.

She stood in solemn silence there for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memory of Bangabandhu, the architect of independence.

Flanked by senior leaders of the party, Sheikh Hasina, also the president of Bangladesh Awami League, placed another wreath at the portrait of the Father of the Nation as the party chief.

Awami League leaders including Tofail Ahmed, Begum Matia Chowdhury, Obaidul Quader, Dr Abdur Razzak, Mahbub-ul Alam Hanif, Dr Dipu Moni, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury and Advocate Qamrul Islam were present.

Meanwhile, the prime minister released five commemorative stamps, two first day covers, two data cards and a souvenir marking the 46th Victory Day today.

She released the stamps, first day covers, data cards and souvenir, issued by Bangladesh Post Office, at her official Ganobhaban residence here this morning. A special cancelor was used on the occasion.

Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, State Minister for Post and Telecommunication Tarana Halim, PM’s Principal Secretary Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, PMO Secretary Surayia Begum, Post and Telecommunication Secretary Md Faizur Rahman Chowdhury, PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim and Director General of the Postal Department Prabas Chandra Saha were present, among others.
