Two elderly women killed in a Rajshahi road mishap

RAJSHAHI, – Two elderly women were reportedly killed in a road accident at in-front of Godagari Degree College on Rajshahi-Chapainawabgonj highway under Godagari Upazila of the district early hours today, police and locals said, reports BSS.

The deceased were identified as Anwara Begum, 60, wife of late Abdul Mannan and Mabiya Begum, 63, wife of Mawlana Israil Hossain.

Quoting locals SM Farhad Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Godagari Police Station, said the women met the tragic road when a speeding truck knocked them down from behind while they were walking in the morning around 5.30 am.

On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies.

Another woman identified as Aleya Begum was killed on the spot and 20 others injured when a passengers bus collided head-on with a truck at Shahabdipur area under the same upazila around 11.30 am today.

Separate cases of unnatural deaths were recorded with the police station, said the police officer.
