The authorities of Dhaka University (DU) relaxed required qualification of students for taking part in the admission test for 1st year honors courses under the academic session 2015-16.
A drop in performance in HSC and equivalent exams this year has prompted the DU to relax its entrance requirements. The grade point average (GPA) needed for DU admission last year minus the fourth subject has been revised – similar grade including the fourth subject has been set as the benchmark for applying for admission this year.
Vice-Chancellor of DU AAMS Arefin Siddique on August 12, 2015, “We have taken into consideration the HSC results which were not as good as last year. So we are allowing inclusion of fourth subject to meet the required GPA.”
The success rate in this year’s HSC exams has dropped to 69.60 percent from last year’s 78.33 percent. A total of 42,894 students scored GPA-5 against 70,602 in 2014. The university also decided the dates of the admission tests, and collection and submission of the forms.
