CJ apprises President about judicial backlog

DHAKA :  Chief Justice (CJ) Surendra Kumar Sinha Sinha on Wednesday said there are 15,383 cases pending at the Appellate Division, while 369,813 at the High Court Division of the Supreme Court and 2,713,373 in lower courts across the country, reports UNB.
The Chief Justice said this when he made a courtesy call on President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban.
Sinha told the President that steps have been taken for the quick disposal of the cases, President’s press secretary Joynal Abedin told UNB after the meeting.
The Chief Justice also apprised the President of the overall activities of the judiciary.
The President asked the Chief Justice to expedite the process of disposing of the cases so that people can get justice quickly.
