3 DU students get gold medals and scholarship

DHAKA : Three meritorious students of Department of Economics of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded “Prof. Dr. Nasreen Khondaker Memorial Trust Fund Gold Medal and Scholarship” for their outstanding academic results in various examinations, reports BSS.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique distributed the gold medals and scholarships among the awardees at a function at the RC Majumder Arts Auditorium of the university on Tuesday, a DU press release said.
DU Treasurer Prof. Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin presided over the function while Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Prof. Farid Uddin Ahmed and Prof. M Mofakhkharul Islam of the Department of History were present on the occasion as special guests.
Chairperson of the Department of Economics Prof. Nazma Begum delivered the welcome speech while Prof. Dr. Mahbubul Mokaddem (M M Akash) of the same department extended the vote of thanks and Prof. Dr. Md. Helal Uddin delivered a memorial speech on Prof Nasreen.
Recalling the outstanding contribution of Prof. Nasreen in establishing philosophy of the liberation war among the new generation through her works, Prof Arefin said Prof. Nasreen was the symbol of truthfulness and social justice, who never compromised with the wrong doings of the society.
He urged the students to remember Prof. Nasreen and follow her philosophy and thoughts in their future endeavors.
