4-day BGB-Myanmar Police Force meeting ends

DHAKA : A four-day high-level border conference between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Myanmar Police Force (MPF) ended at BGB’s Peelkhana headquarters yesterday, reports BSS.
The conference started on December 21 and ended today with signing a Joint Record of Discussion (JRC).
BGB Additional Directorate General and Northeast Region Commander M Latiful Haidar led the 16-member Bangladesh delegation while his Myanmar counterpart deputy chief of Police Brigadier General Thein Oo led the six-member Myanmar delegation.
During the meeting, discussion on stopping smuggling of illegal drugs particularly the contraband yaba, holding of next DG (Director General) -level meeting and regular BOP (Border Out Post), company, battalion and sector level flag meetings.
It also discussed about the incidents of firing by BGP without any prior notice and discussion, illegal entrance to Bangladesh territory by Myanmar nationals, and holding of friendly matches and exchanging of training between the two sides.
The Myanmar delegation, which arrived at Dhaka on December 16 to attend the conference, will leave Dhaka today.
