BNP to stage 8 hrs countrywide mass hunger strike today

Protesting the repressive acts by the government and the increase in extrajudicial killings and abduction BNP is to stage an 8 hour long mass hunger strike program across the country today. The program will be observed in the capital at the Jatiya Press Club premises fro, 9am-5pm. The reporters have been informed on this by the BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi during a press conference held at the party’s central office at Nayapaltan.
Rizvi included that the program is a mean to protest against the recent repression by the government. During the press conference the leader urged all the party workers to support the program and make it successful. He also mentioned that the BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia will be attending the program at 4pm.
Later, mentioning the recent abduction and judicial killing the leader expressed much concern. He remarked ‘the government has failed to ensure security of the general public. Moreover the remarks of the ministers on the security measures proves that they are unwilling to resolve these situations of anarchy’
To be noted the program of the mass hunger strike across the country was previously announced by BNP acting general secretary Mirza fakhrul Islam Alamgir on 26th April.
