About one lakh tons of Aman rice expected in Narsingdi

NARSINGDI : About one lakh tons of Aman rice is expected to be produced in Narsingdi district in the current harvesting season, official sources said, reports BSS.
Deputy Director, Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Narsingdi Muksed Ali said if favourable climate prevails in the coming couple of weeks, the production target will be achieved.
Farmers have cultivated 39, 650 hectares of land against the target of 97,470 tons fixed by the department on 28, 970 hectares of land in the district this season.
The crop is growing excellently and has started flowering under favourable climate condition. The enthusiastic farmers have engaged their all-out efforts with the hopes of getting bumper production.
DAE sources said the Government has provided quality seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and agricultural loans to the farmers.
